How many people plan to vote for Obama just to ‘punish’ the Republicans?

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Are you thinking that the Republican party should have nominated a ‘real conservative’? Lots of people over the years have lamented that John McCain has ‘played nice’ with legislators on the other side of the aisle too often. Though on-camera politicians often pat themselves on the back for ‘cooperating with their brothers on both sides’ — at Party meetings, they tear at each other like old bats around a pile of Cabbage Patch dolls for having done exactly that.

Many Conservative voters have expressed that until Sarah Palin was announced as McCain’s pick for VP, they didn’t feel he was grounded in beliefs and behavior that matched their own. After Palin’s selection, many of those people have said that Palin ‘drags McCain far enough to the right’ to ease their fears.

Let’s just say, for the sake of the argument, that there are still lots of people out there that still want to vote for Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, or someone else I don’t remember?

What if they feel so ‘cast aside’ by the Republican Party that Conservatives (or Libertarians) want to ‘stick it to the Man’ this election season?

What if there are lots of Conservative voters out there that don’t plan to vote at all this year?

What if many Libertarians that have no hope of getting the their candidate out of the gate still ‘vote for the little guy’ because they know that American needs to see their ‘token vote’ in the CNN exit polls?

What if these people feel so emotionally drawn to voting out of spite that they don’t stop to consider what might happen to the country while they throw their little tantrum?

If this is you, let me take a moment to do what I seldom do on my blog: call you an idiot. And a selfish one at that.

Now let me tell you what you, an ideological idiot, are going to risk for our country, while you are busy ‘protecting the honor of the Party’.

Let’s start looking at what America will be about when Obama becomes our President:

  • A three-branch system of government (Executive, Legislative, Judicial) that no longer provides the same checks and balances that our current, sluggish, argumentative method has relied on for decades. The fact that Obama voted with his Party 97% of the time was neatly set aside by the press (while they were busy reporting on how closely aligned McCain and Bush are supposed to be) is telling — Obama isn’t after change from government-as-usual; he’s just after the chance to sell it to you better. Now that a majority of Congress and the Supreme Court will be on his side, there will be no restraints on federal behavior.
    A Liberal Supermajority (WSJ.com)
“Though we doubt most Americans realize it, this would be one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in U.S. history. Liberals would dominate the entire government in a way they haven’t since 1965, or 1933. In other words, the election would mark the restoration of the activist government that fell out of public favor in the 1970s. If the U.S. really is entering a period of unchecked left-wing ascendancy, Americans at least ought to understand what they will be getting, especially with the media cheering it all on.”

  • Fostering Americans’ belief that success can be measured in entitlements:
Obama’s women reveal his secret (Asia Times)
“Be afraid – be very afraid. America is at a low point in its fortunes, and feeling sorry for itself. When Barack utters the word “hope”, they instead hear, “handout”. A cynic might translate the national motto, E pluribus unum, as “something for nothing”. Now that the stock market and the housing market have failed to give Americans something for nothing, they want something for nothing from the government.”

  • Teaching Americans that cheating the system is the new ‘system’; the tone of respect and decorum known 50 years ago has been waning during our generation — but not until now will expectations of honor have been completely discarded.
VOTE FRAUD ALERT: Obama & ACORN Fact Sheet (FreeRepublic.com)
“Board employees said ACORN workers often handed in the same name on a number of voter registration cards, but showing that person living at different addresses. Other times, cards had the same name listed, but a different date of birth. Still another sign of possible fraud showed a number of people living at an address that turned out to be a restaurant. … Board employees are unsure how many of the cards are fraudulent. But the voter registration department received so many suspicious cards that …”

  • Knowing the the Second Amendment will mean less and less as gun ownership rights are whittled away, and police agencies are allowed to track which citizen owns which firearm — so that removing them from us becomes as easy as checking them off the list, one at a time:
Obama’s Stance on the Second Amendment Explained
“The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants – so long as people are willing to give it to him.”

  • Freedom of the Press becomes freedom of some of the press. Two words: ‘Fairness Doctrine’.

“Just another perk America will enjoy when there are no more checks and balances among the Senate, House, and Oval Office — when both are on the same side of the political fence.”

  • The Democrats are ‘teaching’ American soldiers that if they want their vote to count, they better make sure that they aren’t fighting a war that the Left is not backing — because there are politicians willing to go against judicial opinions to keep military votes from being counted.
Military Votes Being Tossed Again (Black-and-Right.com)
“”We support the troops” except when they vote Republican. That would appear to be the pattern again this presidential election, last perfected in 2000, and resurrected in 2008… Fairfax County Registrar Rokey Suleman is disqualifying an overwhelming majority of the military federal write-in absentee ballots received in his county on the basis that no address had been given for those witnessing the voter signatures on the ballots. According to Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity and four former members of the military who held a press conference on Thursday, over 98 percent of these military absentee ballots in Fairfax County are being rejected.”

  • Israel’s status as a friend and ally won’t just be questioned — it will be discarded.
It’s official: Jesse Jackson says ‘Zionists who control America’ can kiss Israel goodbye if Obama elected (Doug Ross)
“…promised “fundamental changes” in US foreign policy – saying America must “heal wounds” it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the “arrogance of the Bush administration.” The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where “decades of putting Israel’s interests first” would end. … Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades…”

  • The fight against Socialism, Marxism, and yes, even Communism will have been lost by those who have become so blinded by the sales pitch of the power-hungry that they will not see the damage done to Capitalism, Conservatism and Democracy until they have handed them over to their new jailer in total.
Americans who lived under Communism support McCain (Doug Ross)
“Americans who lived under Communism have strong feelings about this election: Cuban-Americans, Russian-Americans

  • Americans living abroad and citizens of nations friendly to the U.S. will see their plight deteriorate.
    Iraqis vocally oppose Barack Obama
More than three quarters of U.S. citizens living in Israel support John McCain
A clear majority of Georgians, who have experienced communism firsthand, support McCain

  • Citizens who cry foul over increased taxation will be attacked in the public forum, by ‘Truth Squads’ who pretend to display a groundswell of public opinion — but who actually perform as the ‘thought police’ of our generation.
Obama on low taxes: “Selfishness” (HotAir.com)
“After telling Joe the Plumber in Ohio that he wants government to “spread the wealth,” Obama told Floridians that opposition to such policies amounted to “selfishness” … Those who earn the money want to direct it in the manner they see fit, in the most efficient manner possible. That’s not selfish, it’s just common sense. Only someone in love with government power could see it as anything else.”

  • Americans will have placed their trust in a Man instead of in their country, in a persona rather than the American Concept
Confessions of an Open Minded Conservative: “The One” turned out to be just another one (RedState.com)
“No, Barack Obama is not the savior of America or American politics. He is not a new Democrat. Those glimpses you have seen during off-the-cuff comments by Obama, Joe Biden, Barney Frank, et al are not just rhetorical flourishes and misunderstandings, they are glimpses of the future–of the type of liberal policies that Republicans once created bogeymen around. Wealth redistribution, military cuts during a time of war, cow-towing to the UN and our enemies. Far from being “The One,” Barack Obama is just another one and maybe the worst one of them all.”

  • America’s financial stability, and the way it is reported to citizens and the world, will be the responsibility of the government, not the free press and free market. And for self-preservation, the government will finally and successfully hide the truth (and suspend the rights) from the people.
They are responsible for the mortgage banking crisis; and now are trying to blame the banks, and the Republicans — both who tried to avoid these risks. They ridiculed Republicans for trying to limit the damage. And it is up to us to ensure that no one forgets their names. (MacBigot.com)

  • Whether it’s because he feels compelled to be the tool of the Left’s victim-based delirium, or if his real allegiance is to America’s foes — Obama’s administration will immediately begin steps to dismantle the structure that protect Americans both within and outside our borders.
Reasons to vote for McCain; reasons to vote against Obama (RightWingNews.com)
“…at a time when America is disliked by her friends and loathed by her foes, [Obama] wishes to slash the military. He seems to be clueless that, in the real world, you first get people to become your allies, and only then do you lower your defenses. … McCain understands that the best defense is the promise that, should anyone attack you, you can and will go powerfully on the offensive. … I have to say that I find it amusing that all the good liberals at my martial arts dojo, the ones who are desperate to unilaterally disarm America, are assiduously training themselves to be strong in case of an unexpected personal attack on the street. It baffles me that they can recognize at a personal level that the strength and training they’re developing will not turn them into killing machines, but merely keep them safe; but are unable to extend that basic principle to a national standard.”

  • America will become ‘just another country’ after having completely forgotten the history of our nation and our world — all from placing our hopes on one man.
    Hitler Runs for President (HistoryPlace.com)
“[The candidate] criss-crossed [the country] in an airplane, descending from the clouds into the arms of growing numbers of fanatics, at ever larger rallies. He gave them a positive message, promising something for everyone, then ascended back into the clouds. … The campaign for president continued with the [Party] mounting another furious campaign effort with Hitler making several campaign stops a day. … Berlin was now a swirling mess of fear, intrigue, rumors, and disorder.”

We could keep this up all day; but I’ll finish with someone else’s list that doesn’t mirror my own but covers a lot of ground:

“A. The Bush Tax cuts will be rolled back and you will be paying a higher tax rate nomatter what you make! This will kill jobs and send other ones overseas to make things cheaper and to sell their products to other markets because this country will go broke.

    B. Social Security will just become another tax. You will pay into it and get nothing out of it when it comes time to retire. If you Depend on Social Security for a living now they will tell you Sorry We don’t have any money to give you.

    C. Your 401 K will be taxed. Barney Frank wants part of your retirement fund!

    D. Banks will become nationalized! And if you make any money on stocks if you have them and they are still worth something your going to get hit with high capital gaines taxes. Inflation will be high and intrest rates.

    E. They will cut the defense Budget by 25% while we have troops in harms way!

    F. National Healthcare for everyone that will help bankrupt this country. Just wait till you get sick and you need a test urgently and they tell you that you will have to wait 6 months to a year to get it.

    G. Acorn will be the national Registors for voter Registration.

    H. A Planned Parenthood comming to a corner near you ! Plus they will be put into our schools to teach Sex education to our kids.

I.Your Second Amendment will go away.

J.Your first Amendment will be limited.

    K. After all the money is gone the jobs we will all be in a soup line like back in the 30′s.

    L. Terrorists will be able to attack us because we have no way to defend ourselves.

    M. Crime will be rampant.” (Thanks to David S. at RedState.com)

Obama (former) Speech Writer: I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that.

She might be out fo a job at the moment; but she certainly hasn’t lost her command of the English language.

With a h/t to MoonBattery.com and NewsBusters.org:

So Long, Democrats by Wendy Button
A speechwriter for Obama, Edwards, and Clinton on why she’s voting McCain

… The party I believed in wouldn’t look down on working people under any circumstance. And Joe the Plumber is right. This is the absolutely worst time to raise taxes on anyone: the rich, the middle class, the poor, small businesses and corporations.

Our economy is in the tank for many complicated reasons, especially because people don’t have enough money. So let them keep it. Let businesses keep it so they can create jobs and stay here and weather this storm. And yet, the Democratic ideology remains the same. Our approach to problems—big government solutions paid for by taxing the rich and big and smaller companies—is just as tired and out of date as trickle down economics. How about a novel approach that simply finds a sane way to stop the bleeding?

That’s not exactly the philosophy of a Democrat. Not only has this party belittled working people in this campaign from Joe the Plumber to the bitter comments, it has also been part of tearing down two female candidates. At first, certain Democrats and the press called Senator Clinton “dishonest.” They went after her cleavage. They said her experience as First Lady consisted of having tea parties. There was no outrage over “Bros before Hoes” or “Iron My Shirt.” Did Senator Clinton make mistakes? Of course. She’s human.

But here we are about a week out and it’s déjà vu all over again. Really, front-page news is how the Republican National Committee paid for Governor Sarah Palin’s wardrobe? Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?

Governor Palin and I don’t agree on a lot of things, mostly social issues. But I have grown to appreciate the Governor. I was one of those initial skeptics and would laugh at the pictures. Not anymore. When someone takes on a corrupt political machine and a sitting governor, that is not done by someone with a low I.Q. or a moral core made of tissue paper. When someone fights her way to get scholarships and work her way through college even in a jagged line, that shows determination and humility you can’t learn from reading Reinhold Niebuhr. When a mother brings her son with special needs onto the national stage with love, honesty, and pride, that gives hope to families like mine as my older brother lives with a mental disability. And when someone can sit on a stage during the Sarah Palin rap on Saturday Night Live, put her hands in the air and watch someone in a moose costume get shot—that’s a sign of both humor and humanity.

Has she made mistakes? Of course, she’s human too. But the attention paid to her mistakes has been unprecedented compared to Senator Obama’s “57 states” remarks or Senator Biden using a version of the Samuel Johnson quote, “There’s nothing like a hanging in the morning to focus a man’s thoughts.”

But thank God for election 2008. We can talk about the wardrobe and make-up even though most people don’t understand the details about Senator Obama’s plan with Iraq. When he says, “all combat troops,” he’s not talking about all troops—it leaves a residual force of as large as 55,000 indefinitely. That’s not ending the war; that’s half a war.

I was dead wrong about the surge and thought it would be a disaster. Senator John McCain led when many of us were ready to quit. Yet we march on as if nothing has changed, wedded to an old plan, and that too is a long way from the Democratic Party.

I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that. And also say that the Democratic Party’s talking points—that Senator John McCain is just four more years of the same and that he’s President Bush—are now just hooker lines that fit a very effective and perhaps wave-winning political argument…doesn’t mean they’re true. After all, he is the only one who’s worked in a bipartisan way on big challenges.

Before I cast my vote, I will correct my party affiliation and change it to No Party or Independent. Then, in the spirit of election 2008, I’ll get a manicure, pedicure, and my hair done. Might as well look pretty when I am unemployed in a city swimming with “D’s.”

Whatever inspiration I had in Chapel Hill two years ago is gone. When people say how excited they are about this election, I can now say, “Maybe for you. But I lost my home.”
