A friend sent this along to me. I can’t think of a reason to disagree.
I am sending this to virtually everybody on my e-mail list and that includes conservatives, liberals, and everybody in between. Even though we disagree on a number of issues, I count all of you as friends. My friend and neighbor wants to promote a “Congressional Reform Act of 2010″. It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and would be violently opposed by virtually if not all of our incumbent Senators and Representatives.
I know many of you will say, “this is impossible”. Let me remind you, Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress – the entity that represents us, and were ‘hired’ by us.
We need to find a Senator with enough integrity and intestinal fortitude to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a similarly disposed Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House. These people will become American hero’s..

The nice folks at TaxFoundation.org have a well-tooled explanation posted about what they call Tax Freedom Day [PDF] on their site; but the short version is this: If you were to add up all the tax responsibilities of the average American, and plot the number of days on a calendar that it would take you to fulfill those responsibilities, ‘Tax Freedom Day’ is the first day on the calendar you are getting to keep some (any) of the money you earn.
Having said that, knowing now that roughly half of Americans pay no tax to the Federal government at all means it’s likely a bit later in the year for me, since Tax Freedom Day for non-contributors is January 1st. For clarity, that means for every person who does not contribute to Americans’ tax burden, someone else is paying — and for every voter who supports the idiotic claims that ‘the rich aren’t carrying their fair share’, I remind you of our previous story: “How Taxes Work — or, ‘How to Pay for Beer’“, appearing again below for your convenience.

“How Taxes Work — or, ‘How to Pay for Beer,
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. ‘Since you are all such good customers,’ he said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.’ Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free.
But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
‘I only got a dollar out of the $20′ declared the sixth man. Then he pointed at the tenth man, ‘but he got $10!’
‘Yeah, that’s right,’ exclaimed the fifth man. ‘I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!’
‘That’s true!!’ shouted the seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!’
‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four men in unison. ‘We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him.
But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works.
The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction.
Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

First, a program note: Though I am human, and am weak at times, I strive to never call people names, or belittle them, or turn a philosophical difference into a personal attack. I do tend to take the gloves off when commenting on people in power who are ‘thinking for us’, and making decisions and taking action against the will of those they claim to represent. But to lambast a fellow constituent, because I disagree with them? You will never hear the kind of foul language that I’ve been overhearing all day today, as people comment to each other ‘how stupid’ people are who “don’t understand that this is made especially to benefit them” (note the condescending ‘White-Man’s Burden’ to save the ‘po folk’ who are apparently the only people who are protesting at the Tea Party rallies. The implication is that anyone against the Healthcare Takeover must be Ignorant Trailer Trash, who need to be saved from themselves.
Second, there is an ongoing meme, supported by the Mainstream Media just as adherently as the Democrat party-line, that the ‘crimes’ committed by the health & medical insurance industry (who take less than 2% profits from the service we pay them for) will somehow not be committed by the government — as if the Federal Hegemony will be more pure, more trustworthy, more transparent. I repeat: We are not looking for a savior. Those of us clinging to our guns and religion already have one of those — what we want from the government is to stop adding to the controls they have over every aspect of our lives.

Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz Admits Executive Order Can’t Change Law (YouTube.com h/t FoxNews.com)
An ongoing tactic of belittling and personal attacks has been the acceptable, even expected, amoral code for the Left for decades. This decade, the cry of ‘Racism!’ is by far the favorite — so much so that anyone daring to side with Conservative thought are instantly branded, and any minority with Conservative views is an ‘Uncle Tom’.
Since the following video was first posted, John Lewis and the Congressional Black Caucus have claimed they were called racial slurs by Tea Party members opposed to Obamacare. As you can see in the video, there is no evidence of the so-called “N-word” or any other slur being used (or the Representatives ducking or flinching from being spat upon), despite the claims of the CBC and their lapdogs at CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS.
As several commentators have noted, the absence of video evidence does not prove that their reports are invalid; however with dozens of cameras rolling, it becomes less believable when these Representatives are on their way to screw the American people, and their children’s children’s children. Their credibility is simply zero — and that has nothing at all to do with race; but instead is this one blogger’s estimation of the content of their character.
Any number of people, including news organizations, were covering the protest and House Democrats’ actions yesterday. If the Democrats’ charge is true, evidence of it should exist. Clyburn et al. should either produce video that confirms their allegation, or else apologize to the anti-Obamacare demonstrators. And the AP should investigate before it reports charges as facts.
I am upset over those in the media (whether ‘fair and balanced’ or ‘mainstream left’) who choose to call the opponents of this Statist takeover of the healthcare industry as ‘against healthcare reform’. I am not surprised that those selling the idea use this terminology — in fact, I expect it from them. But for the media to pretend that they are impartial, and to still promulgate this turn of phrase — that is, in journalistic terms at least, no less than criminal. To be clear, no one is against healthcare reform; not even the healthcare industry that the Democrats intend to dismantle, destroy, fold, spindle and mutilate.
On top of this, our Esteemed Pile of Change continually hammers the idea that the Republican Party has refused to come to the table with any ideas. In fact, he went out of his way to claim (not imply) that the G.O.P. had even refused to sit down to discuss what was already slung across the table by his own band of merry men. On both points, (as was once pointed out by Joe Wilson) He Lied. To catch you (those of you who do not know how to use Google) up:
Thirdly, Obama likes to talk about how the Federal government is going to whisk the cover of darkness away, and make the legislative process a ‘transparent’ one. In fact, Nancy Pelosi has called this “the most transparent and ethical Congress”:
It should go without saying that anyone paying attention will have the same disdainful view on the ‘bipartisan’ efforts of this President, and his puppetmasters Pelosi and Reid, while disappearing into back-rooms where C-SPAN cameras and any Republican with an idea to shake in the air can’t find them.
The last thing that torques my panties is the idea, accepted by everyone from Chris Matthews on down the line, that Barack is somehow absolved from the responsibility of error because of the treacherously impossible condition that the country was left in by his predecessor, George W. Bush.
Mr. Bush was, by many measures, a decent President — but I can understand why people of differing opinions might dislike what a man, not themselves, has done. I can even understand the tendency to bad-mouth that person for all eternity. What I can’t understand, though, is that despite the data, the media is happy to keep the Obamanut as their god by parroting everything he says as the gospel truth.

But it’s not a surprise for anyone who chooses to pay attention — Obama has used Bush in comparative fashion even before he was elected to lie to the American people:

Whether he will ever realize what that means to us as a nation depends on how much older and wiser he lives to be, and whether his ego will ever pale in significance to the success of us all as a country.
And you folks who think it’s appropriate to crank up the potty hole to belittle and bully people who don’t see things the same way you do…

But then, you would have to have the Audacity to Hope that the Lefty Lemming you’re conversing with has the ability to discuss and consider — rather than prejudging your ideas based on whatever Obama, Chris Matthews, and Saul Alinsky have taught them about you and your inability to cogitate.
Our conversation is with Yuri Alexandrovic Bezmenov. Mr. Bezmenov was born in 1939 in a suburb of Moscow. He was the son of a high ranking Soviet Army officer. He was educated in the elite schools inside the Soviet Union; and became an expert in Indian culture and Indian languages.
He had an outstanding career with Novosti, which was, and still is, I should say, the press arm or press agency of the Soviet Union; it turns out this is also a front, for the KGB.
He escaped to the West in 1970 after becoming totally disgusted with the Soviet system; and he did this at great risk to his life. He certainly is one of the worlds outstanding experts on the subject of Soviet propaganda; and disinformation and active measures.
ED GRIFFIN:
Well, you spoke before about “ideological subversion” and that’s a phrase that I’m afraid some Americans don’t understand. When the Soviets use the phrase “ideological subversion” what do they mean by it?
YURI BEZMENOV:
1. Ideological subversion is the process which is [a] legitimate, old word, and open. You can see it with your own eyes. All American mass media has to do is to “unplug bananas” from their ears, open up their eyes, and they can see it. There is no mystery.
It has nothing to do with espionage. I know that espionage intelligence gathering looks more romantic. It sells more deodorants through the advertising.
That’s probably why your Hollywood producers are so crazy about James Bond types of films. But in reality the main emphasis of the KGB is NOT in the area of intelligence at all.
According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such.
The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.
It’s a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.
The first stage being “demoralization”. It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation.
Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy.
In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.
Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion.
Publishers, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science. Members of parliament, representatives of business circles.
Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups: those who would tow the Soviet foreign policy, they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public manipulation; [and] those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated OR executed physically, come Revolution.
Same way as in a small town of Hua in South Vietnam; several thousands of Vietnamese were executed in one night when the city was captured by [the] Viet Cong for only two days; and American CIA could never figure out – how could [the communists] possibly know each Individual, where he lives, where to get him; and [in order that they] would be arrested in one night basically in four hours before dawn, put on a van, driven out of the city limits and shot.
The answer is very simple. Long before communists occupy the city, there was extensive network of informers; local Vietnamese citizens who knew absolutely everything about people who are instrumental in public opinion – including Barbers and Taxi Drivers.
Everyone who was sympathetic to United States was executed. Same thing was done under the guidance of the Soviet Embassy in Hanoi, and same thing I was doing in New Delhi.
To my horror, I discovered that in the files were people who were doomed to execution. There were names of pro-Soviet Journalists, with whom I was personally friendly.
ED GRIFFIN:

YURI BEZMENOV:
Yes, absolutely. They were idealistically minded leftist communists who had made several visits to the USSR; and yet the KGB decided, that come Revolution, or drastic changes in political structure of India – they will have to go. ED GRIFFIN: Why is that?
YURI BEZMENOV:
Because they know too much. Simply, because, you see the USEFUL IDIOTS; the leftists who are idealistically believing in the beauty of Soviet or Communist or Socialist or whatever system; when they get disillusioned, they become the worst enemies.
That’s why my KGB instructors specifically made the point, “never bother with leftists, forget about these political prostitutes – aim higher” this was my instruction.
Try to get into, uh, large circulation, established conservative media. Reach filthy rich movie makers, intellectuals in so-called academic circles. Cynical, ego-centric people who can look into your eyes with angelic expression and tell you a lie. This are the most recruitable people; people who lack moral principals – who are either too greedy or too, uh, suffer from self-importance, uh, they feel that they matter a lot. Uh, these are the people who KGB wanted very much to recruit.
ED GRIFFIN:
But to eliminate the others; to execute the others, don’t they serve some purpose – wouldn’t they be the one’s to rely on?
YURI BEZMENOV:
No they serve purpose only [up] to the stage of destabilization of a nation. For example, your leftists in [the] United States; all these professors and all these beautiful civil rights defenders.
They are instrumental in the process of the subversion; only to destabilize a nation.
When the job is completed, they are not needed anymore. They know too much.
Some of them, when they get disillusioned – when they see that Marxist-Leninist come to power. Obviously they get offended; they think that THEY will come to power.
That will never happen, of course; they will be lined up against the wall and shot.
But they may turn into the most bitter enemies of Marxist-Leninists when they come to power; and that’s what happened in Nicaragua.
You remember most of these former Marxist-Leninists were either put to prison or one of them split and now he’s working against the Sandinistas
It happened in Grenada when Maurice Bishop, he was already a Marxist – he was executed by the new Marxists who was more Marxist than this Marxist.
Same happened in Afghanistan, when, uh, first there was Taraki he was killed by Amin, then Amin was killed by Karmal with the help of KGB.
Same happened in Bangladesh where Mujibur Rahman, very pro-soviet leftist; was assassinated by his own Marxist-Leninist military comrades.
It’s the same pattern everywhere. The moment they serve their purpose, all the useful idiots are either executed entirely; all the idealistically minded Marxists.
Or exiled, or put in prisons like in Cuba many former Marxists are in Cuba, and in prison.
So basically America is stuck, with demoralization; and unless, even if you start right now this minute; you start educating new generation of Americans – it will still take you 15 to 20 years to turn the tide of uh, ideological perception of reality; uh back to normalcy and patriotism.
The result? The result you can see — most of the people who graduated in the 60′s, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals, are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, and educational systems. You are stuck with them.
You can’t get rid of to them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern [alluding to Pavlov]. You can not change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information.
Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logic of behavior.
In other words [for] these people the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To rid society of these people you need another 15 or 20 years to educate a new generation of patriotically minded and common sense people who would be acting in favor and in the interests of United States society.
ED GRIFFIN:
And yet these people who have been programmed and as you say [are] in place and who are favorable to an opening with the Soviet concept [meaning NEW WORLD ORDER]- these are the very people who would be marked for extermination in this country?
YURI BEZMENOV:
Most of them, yes. Simply because the psychological shock when they will see in [the] future what the beautiful society of EQUALITY and social justice means in practice, obviously they will revolt.
They will be very unhappy [and] frustrated people, and Marxist Leninist regime does not tolerate these people. Obviously they will join the [ranks] of dissenters; dissidents.
Unlike the present [1984] United States there will be no place for dissent in future Marxist-Leninist America.
[Now] you can get popular like Daniel Ellsberg and filthy rich like Jane Fonda for being a dissident [and] for criticizing your Pentagon.
In [the] future these people will simply be [he makes a squishy noise] squashed like cockroaches for criticizing the government.
Nobody is going to pay them nothing for their beautiful [and] noble ideas of EQUALITY. This they don’t understand and it will be the greatest shock for them, of course.
The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already for the last 25 years.
Actually, it’s over fulfilled because demoralization now reaches such areas where not even Comrade Andropov and all his experts would even dream of such tremendous success.
Most of it is done by Americans to Americans thanks to lack of moral standards. As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore.
A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him, even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents and pictures.
Even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him the concentration camps…he will refuse to believe it…. until he is going to receive a kick in his fat bottom.
When the military boot crashes – then he will understand. But not before that. That’s the tragedy of the situation of demoralization.
2. The next stage is destabilization….
this time, subverter does not care about your ideas and the patterns of your consumption. Whether you eat junk food and get fat and flabby doesn’t matter any more.
It only takes 2 to 5 years to destabilize a nation. This time what matters is essentials; economy, foreign relations, [and] defense systems.
And you can see it quite clearly that in some… sensitive areas such as defense and [the] economy, the influence of Marxist-Leninist ideas in the United States is absolutely fantastic.
I could never believe it 14 years ago when I landed in this part of the world that the process will go that fast.
3. The next stage of course is crisis, which may take only up to 6 weeks to bring a country to the verge of crisis. You can see it in Central America now; and after crisis, with the violent change of power structure and economy, you have the period of so called “normalization” [which] it may last indefinitely.
Normalization is a cynical expression, borrower from Soviet Propaganda. When the Soviet tanks moved into Czechoslovakia in 1968, comrade Brezhnev said “Now the situation in brotherly Czechoslovakia is normalized”. This is what will happen in [the] United States if you allow all the shmucks to bring the country to crisis.
To promise people all kinds of goodies, and the paradise on Earth. Uh to destabilize your economy to eliminate the principal of free market competition; and to put a big brother government in Washington D.C.; with benevolent dictators like [1984] Walter Mondale [2008 Obama] who will promise lots of things – Never mind whether the promises are fulfilled or not.
He [the dictator] will go to Moscow to kiss the bottoms of a new generation of Soviet Assassins. Never mind [nothing to see here, move along], he will create false illusions that the situation is under control.
Situation is NOT under control. Situation is disgustingly out of control.
Most of the American politicians, media, and educational system train another generation of people who think they are living at the peacetime. False.
United States is in a state of war; undeclared, total war against the basic principles and foundations of this system. And the initiator of this war is not Comrade Andropov of course – it’s the system. However, ridiculous it may sound, [it is] the world Communist system, or the world Communist conspiracy. Whether I scare some people or not, I don’t give a hoot.
If you’re not scared by now, nothing can scare you. You don’t have to be paranoid about it. What actually happens now; that unlike myself, you have literally several years to live on unless United States wake up. The time bomb is ticking.
With every second the disaster is coming closer. Unlike myself, you will have nowhere to defect to, unless you want to live in Antarctica with penguins.
This is it, this is the last country with freedom and possibility.
ED GRIFFIN:
Okay, so what do we do? What is your recommendation to the American people?
YURI BEZMENOV:
Well, the immediate thing that comes to mind is, of course, there must be a very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of REAL patriotism, number one. Number two, to explain [to] them the real danger of socialist, communist, welfare state, Big Brother government. If people fail to grasp the impending danger; nothing ever will help the United States. You may kiss goodbye your freedoms, including [sending] homosexuals to prison inmate. All this freedom will vanish in 5 seconds – including your precious lives.
The moment at least part of [the] United States population is convinced that the danger is real, they have to FORCE their government, and I’m not talking about sending letters, signing petitions, and all this beautiful, noble activity, I’m talking about FORCING [the] United States government to stop aiding Communism….
Okaaaaay, once more for the kids in the back row (who were too busy carefully forming spitwads to pay attention in History or Math class to realize that they might need this stuff to be able to VOTE effectively as adults):

There are ‘media professionals’ who we used to rely on to be objective, that now are firmly in the camp of more government, less individual freedoms — purely on the basis of their own philosophical wants (and completely aside from any evidence that such a utopia can be engineered despite the thousands of years of human history that says otherwise). Those media people, like Chris Matthews, who act as the mouthpiece of some imagined Moral Majority use tactics like ridicule, defamation, and sheer volume to shout down anyone who dares ask the right questions.
Wonder out loud if the government has a right to change the rules or business and finance ‘just to even out the playing field’? Your professionalism, work ethic, and personal life are now targets for the Leftist media to drag through the streets like the entrails of a half-dead dog.
Find it odd that our President has no paper trail, no historical archive of college term papers, no certifiable birth certificate? You’re a kook, and as crazy as the ‘Moon Truthers’.
Want Congressional ‘transparency’ to stop being an ongoing campaign slogan, and to actually occur while it might still do some good? Your elected representatives are just acting in an obstructionist fashion by demanding to sit at the table, and asking C-SPAN to be let into the room.
Do you find it easier to find Socialist similarities between what is happening now under Obama’s watch, with the Left-heavy Congress patting each other on the back behind closed doors — and Hitler’s rise to power — despite all the ‘BusHitler’ name-calling of the last 8 years? You’re a Racist.

Remember when it was reported decades ago that the United States Federal government was paying hundreds of dollars — each — for toilet seats and hammers?
Later, it was found that the high cost of seemingly mundane items had been engineered to mask the dollars truthfully spent on huge government waste, individuals treating their expense accounts like personal piggy banks, and pet projects that never would have passed muster if reviewed and vetted through proper channels.
Now we are spending millions on dozens of federal web sites that are designed to make us all feel better about… the millions of dollars being spent to grow the government.
But these are all turning out to be so untrustworthy that we would settle for mere ‘propaganda’ — at least with propaganda, much of what you are told is true. What happens when the information posted to these multi-million-dollar web sites is actually examined and cross-checked with known facts?
“The Web site listed $6.4 billion going to 440 congressional districts that don’t exist. Congress only has 435 real districts.
The Franklin Center report also showed how Recovery.gov had the four American territories receiving stimulus money in their 23 congressional districts, when in fact they have zero districts.
In Washington D.C., there is just one congresswoman, but Recovery.gov shows the city has 12 congressional districts getting hefty amounts of stimulus funds.
In Arizona, the Web site has almost $35 million going to the state’s 15th and 86th districts — neither exist.”

Years from now, we may find that all the millions wasted on these feel-good-but-don’t-check-the-math web sites are just a newer, more modern way to buy $400 toilet seats… although this time it’s plain to see — there really is a lot of shit passing through the center of this taxpayer-funded travesty.
What is the difference between someone who is a leader, and someone who is simply in charge?
You may or may not have an opinion on Ronald Reagan; though it’s likely you have an opinion about those who claim allegiance to Reagan ideals. But this generation, and by that I mean most of us under the age of 50, has no solid recollection of what a Reagan speech was, back when we had real leadership in Washington D.C.
Before the government controlled nearly as much as it does now, there were actual leaders to be found, who met to discuss the heady and weighty matters that affected Americans everywhere. Leaders who understood that the hearts of Americans needed trust and guidance from their elected representatives — not whips, handcuffs and prosecution.
There was an expectation that the smartest found among us would be sent to Washington to belabor the concerns we had, and come back with solutions — not create problems that simply surpassed or replaced other problems.
Since most everyone I have recently spoken to has lost whatever memory they might have had of those who have gone before, I recommend that you take half an hour of your life, and watch (or read) a speech by Ronald Reagan, from back in 1964 (a few years before I was born).
It’s not just the calming cadence of his voice that matters — some say we’ve had plenty of that in later Presidents. It’s not the tireless intellect that provides an impression of trustworthy competance — most believe we have had that in every other President (though which is which is up for debate).
But there was always an understanding, a teachable moment, that came from his speeches — crafted such that even if you disagreed with him, you likely would still believe that the country is in good hands, with good men at the helm.
Allt-too-faint memories of speeches like this are why there are so many in this country moving from the Republican Party, and toward a possible, new, Conservative Party. It’s become obvious why the Democrats are losing the ears and eyes of those who can or will read a newspaper or any web page so long it requires scrolling — and the Republican Party is trying hard but quietly dying off in it’s own ignorance.

Recently, a lot of parents were upset to learn that a particular ‘service-minded’ video was shown to their children at school… but it wasn’t the ‘call to service’ that has people annoyed.
Now, it has been announced that our President is taking the opportunity (of a relatively captive audience) to spend some ‘bonding time’ with our kids on Tuesday, September 8th. Many parents who have found out about this are already organizing to pull their children out of school on that day because of it, and some school systems have announced that they are leaving it up to individual teachers (not parents) to decide whether to show the live broadcast during the school day.
As this is sort of a ‘first contact’ between Barack Obama and this fresh-faced audience, we don’t expect that he will plan to make major socialist inroads in their first sitting — but the principle of letting this individual, who so many Americans are being shat upon for wanting to keep some control over their financial, religious, capitalistic, and First- and Second-Amendment freedoms — seems a great way to goad Conservatives out into the streets (again) waving pitchforks and burning torches. If Obama’s intent is to encourage discontent, so that he can point and laugh at it (have all of you read up on Alinsky, like I told you to last week?), then this seems the logical next step.
There is already a very recent precedent for this kind of mind-grab by a politician who had delusions of being the philosophical leader of this country’s youth… (see one parent’s description of Al Gore’s presumptuous parent-free ‘teachable moment’… audio available). So we shouldn’t expect that anyone in his Party is immune from stooping that low again.

And while you’re watching, notice how hard the cameraman works to hide from viewers the fact that the man carrying his rifle is not an ‘angry white militia extremist’ — because knowing that wouldn’t play into the conjecture and drivel that these ‘newscaster’ follow the footage with:

The ‘shovel-ready’ idea that the Administration is spinning tells of Conservatives that are somehow trying to subvert indisputable improvements, and who don’t want anything to ‘change’ or ‘progress’. Nothing could be further from the truth. We do want heathcare to improve — for EVERYONE — we just don’t believe that harming the healthcare of MOST for the sake of SOME who are underserved is the proper course of action.Let’s fix what is broken, instead of taking away what works.
Pelosi, the Presidency, and the media are all operating with an imperative to convince the undecided or uninformed that anyone who is against more government meddling in our free market system is somehow a racist, uneducated, emotion-driven, mentally unstable, socially defunct, extreme-thinking, fringe influence.
The Truth is, we are free citizens. And we plan to stay that way.
There are two extremes, and lots of middle ground between them. At one end, you have total government control, and at the other — an equally damaging extreme of total anarchy. Anarchy means that the person who has the biggest gun in your neighborhood gets whatever they feel they have a right to (not what society agrees each individual has a right to).
Both extremes should scare the living bat-shit out of each and every one of us.

Lately it has become fashionable to point an accusing finger at the Conservative side of many arguments and yell, “JUST LIKE A NAZI!”
Being historically removed from what the Nazis were really like, it’s easy for people in our generation to remember only the guns, the bombs, the concentration camps, the long trains of human cargo being removed from ‘polite society’. And that’s exactly the sum total of the Nazi era that many historians want us to remember.
Since we all essentially agree that All Nazi’s were ‘Very Very Bad’, this makes for an easy ‘A = B = C’ argument that Conservatives are also ‘very very bad’.
The math starts to go sour pretty quickly after that, where ‘D’ in the next step of non sequitur assumptions means that ‘Disagreeing’ with a Leftist view somehow indicates that right-wingers want to start tossing limp bodies of Berkeley students into rail cars. ‘Disagreement = Very Very Bad’. Conservatives are to be feared; demonized.
It’s easy to see how arguments between perfectly rational left-of-center and right-of-center people can degenerate quickly into fearful, hate-flinging disputes based on terrorizing views of the other’s political viewpoint — never mind that few of us are really at the extremes those fears are built upon.

Nancy Pelosi recently pointed out in giddy fashion that ‘disrupters’ at recent Townhall meetings were waving swastikas, which might have been counter-productive to the cause of attendees anyway… unless they were, instead of waving it pridefully to instill fear, using it on posters to compare Obama’s proposed healthcare plan to the social reforms spearheaded by another charismatic leader from our recent past.
The following is a letter to the editor of a Washington newspaper, published in 1995:
During the past several months in the American press, the Democrats have frequently denounced the Republicans and other people on the right — the militias, patriots, Christians — as Nazis, due to their attempt to control runaway federal spending. How very ironic! I remember the Nazis, and let me share with you a little about them and recall some of their exploits.
First of all, “Nazi” was gutter-slang for the verb “to nationalize”. The Beider-Meinhoff gang gave themselves the moniker during their early struggles. The official title of the Nazi Party was “National Socialist Workers Party of Germany.” Hitler and the Brown Shirts advocated the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, natural resources, manufacturing, distribution and law enforcement.”
Hitler came to power by turning the working class, unemployed and academic elite against the Conservative Republic. After Der Fuhrer’s election, the Nazi Party ceased being a political conspiracy and was transformed into a fashionable social phenomenon. Party membership was especially popular with educators, bereaucrats, and the press. Being a Nazi was politically correct. They called themselves, and this is an exact quote; “The Children of the New Age of World Order,” and looked down their noses at everyone else.
As Hitler accrued more power, he began referring to his critics as; “…the dark forces of anarchy and hatred.” Anyone who questioned Nazi high-handedness and the German press was branded a “conservative reactionary.”
Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Communications, proclaimed, and I quote exactly; “A New World Order.” The Nazi reign of terror began with false news reports on the radio and in the newspapers. Paramilitary groups of Poles, Jews, Bohemians and Gypsies were said to be arming themselves to overthrow the “New World Order,” and Hitler demanded that “all good people register their guns so that they wouldn’t fall into the hands of terrorists and madmen,” and that’s a direct quote; “…fall into the hands of terrorists and madmen.”
“Right-wing fanatics” of the old order who protested firearms registration were arrested by the SS and put in jail for “fomenting hatred against the government of the German people.”
Then the Reichstag was blown up and Hitler ram-rodded an emergency anti-terrorist act through Parliament that gave the Gestapo extra-ordinary powers. The leader then declared that for the well-being of the German people, all private firearms were to be consfiscated by the Gestapo and the Wermacht.
German citizens who refused to surrender their guns when “the jackboots” Gestapo came calling were murdered in their homes. By the way, the Gestapo was the Federal Marshall service of the Third Reich. The SWAT Team was invented and perfected by the Gestapo to break into the homes of the “enemies of the German people.”
When the Polizei, Bewalken (or local police) refused to take away guns from townsfolk, they themselves were disarmed and dragged out into the street and shot to death by the SA and the SS. Those were the Nazi versions of the BATF and the FBI. When several Lutheran ministers spoke out against these atrocities, they were imprisoned and never seen again.
The Gestapo began to confiscate and seize the homes, businesses, bank accounts, and personal belongings of wealthy conservative citizens who had prospered in the old Republic. Pamphleteers who urged revolt against the Nazis were shot on site by national law enforcement and the military.
Gypsies and Jews were detained and sent to labor camps. Mountain roads throughout Central Europe were closed to prevent escape of fugitives into the wilderness and to prevent movement and concealment of partisan resistance fighters.
Public schools re-wrote history and Hitler Youth Groups taught children to report their parents to their teachers for anti-Nazi remarks. Such parents disappeared.
Pagan animism became the State Religion of the Third Reich, and Christians were widely condemned as “right-wing fanatics”. Millions of books were burned first, and then people. Millions of them burned in huge ovens after they were first gassed to death. Unmarried women were paid large sums of money to have babies out of wedlock and then given medals for it.
Evil was declared as being good, and good was condemned as being evil. World Order was coming and the German people were going to be the “peacekeepers”.
Yes. Indeed. I remember the Nazis, and they weren’t republicans or right-wing or patriots or militias, they were Socialists and they were monsters!”
It’s simple, really — these Congressmen are not really concerned that they won’t keep control of the conversation at a few Townhall meetings. See, all they have to do is cancel them. They are, however, afraid of letting voters have credibility with other voters.
Remember last year, when we tried to explain (mostly to deaf ears) that Obama not only learned at the feet of Saul Alinksy’s proteges the ‘Rules for Radicals’; but had become such an expert at it that he was hired by the likes of ACORN to teach them the tactics that they would later employ to disrupt and confuse the voter registration process?
Remember when we were shouted down because we were obviously just showing our racist tendencies because we dared to criticize historically documented facts about The One’s behavior, scrubbed history, and bevy of suspicious friends?
Remember when the media told us our concerns were of no consequence, and directed that we ‘PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!”?
Remember when any attempt to question an action or standard of anyone in Obama’s campaign was ‘a distraction’, and not to be granted any credibility?
President Obama gave marching orders to union thugs, ACORN and his followers to “push back harder” and “get in the faces” of American citizens who oppose his Health Care bill.
Black conservative, Kenneth Gladney was beaten by SEIU (Service Employee International Union) thugs for selling buttons at a Town Hall meeting in St Louis. Gladney’s beating included racial slurs. He spent two days in the emergency room.
Enter Think Progress, which unearthed this shocking, secret memo from the leader of a small grassroots conservative organization in Connecticut, which allegedly instructs members on “infiltrating town halls and harassing Democratic members of Congress.” Right Principles PAC was formed by Bob MacGuffie and four friends in 2008, and has taken in a whopping $5,017 and disbursed $1,777, according to its FEC filing.
“We’re just trying to shake this state up and make a difference up here,” MacGuffie told me during a telephone interview. He’s surprised at his elevation to national rabble-rouser by the Left.
Right Principles has a Facebook group with 23 members and a Twitter account with five followers. MacGuffie describes himself as an “opponent of leftist thinking in America,” and told me he’s “never pulled a lever” for a Republican or Democrat on a federal level. Yet this Connecticut libertarian’s influence over a national, orchestrated Republican health-care push-back is strong, indeed, if you listen to liberal pundits and the Democratic National Committee, who have crafted a nefarious web out of refutable evidence. … The block quote Think Progress provides from MacGuffie’s memo (dutifully reproduced on other liberal blogs) also implies there are sentiments in the memo that simply aren’t there. Each of TP’s examples of the “harassment” MacGuffie is inciting is preceded by a headline MacGuffie didn’t write, which lends a considerably more sinister tone than MacGuffie used. The bolded headlines below do not appear in the memo, but do appear in Think Progress’ block quote of it:
– Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: “Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up…
– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”
– Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down…
The memo also includes these phrases, which are left out of the reporting and demagoguery:
“Do not bring the signs into the hall if you want any chance to be picked for a question.”
“Don’t carry on and make a scene, just short, intermittent shout-outs,” which may sound familiar because the shout-out part was quoted without context by Think Progress.
It also offers such guerrilla tactics as, “When the formal Q&A begins, get your hands up and keep them up— be persistent throughout the entire session. Keep body language neutral and look positive to improve chances of being selected.” It instructs participants to be ready with follow-up questions and insist that representatives answer questions instead of launching into talking points.
The memo outlined strategies MacGuffie had used during a town hall meeting with his Rep. Jim Himes in May of this year. While organizing that event and writing the memo, he emphasized that critics should not get out of hand, he said.
His objective was to “make sure we didn’t get kicked around, asked good, thought-out questions, and had follow-ups ready,” he said. “We took him off his script, but we did not shout him down.”
Here is Bob MacGuffie in action, engaging in the ‘hateful, disruptive attacks’ that the MSM and HuffPo folks have ‘caught on tape’ (Rep Jim Hines, Democrat from CT does an even-handed job at discourse with the audience; much more civil than we have seen of other ‘representatives’ who are purportedly hosting these Townhall meetings to learn the concerns of their constituents):
What you would learn from the video, and from reading the memo circulated by MacGuffie, is that he wrote to point out what worked (discussion, challenging the speaker to explain things beyond their talking points, acknowledging that audience members were there for a conversation — not to be spoon-fed with news from Washington), and what didn’t (shouting, agitating, disruptive behavior, waving signs).
Contrary to the MSM reports, MacGuffie’s suggestions on behavior were written specifically to contribute to the usefullness of the meeting, and to avoid disruptions that would turn townhalls in to wasted time and lost opportunities to engage with elected representatives.
But the MSM is more interested in protecting their Democrat leaders from having to face actual questions, and provide actual answers, when they vote contrary to the wants of their constituents. So now, we are a ‘mob’.
And … clearly anyone who confronts a Black Man is a ‘racist’.
To our leaders: How about treating us like ‘Citizens’? Or maybe ‘Constituents’? The ones you are elected to represent?
You see, we didn’t elect you to think for us.

You are there because it’s just too darn inconvenient for all of us to travel to Washington, D.C. for discussions about how to get along together as a society — so we select a few individuals who we think can do the job for us (on our behalf), so we can go about the business of bringing home the bacon, getting our kids to the bus on time, and generally enjoying the fruits of our labors.
If you don’t feel compelled to do the job that we elected you to do, we’re going to start showing up — Townhall or not — to speak for ourselves. If you’re not up to the task, we’ll gladly find someone else who is, come November of 2010. And THAT’s the real threat of this mob … to you.
GOOOH stands for ‘Get Out of Our House’ and is pronounced like the word ‘go’. It is a NON-PARTISAN plan to evict the 435 career politicians in the U.S. House of Representatives and replace them with everyday Americans just like you.
If you are tired of career politicians, GOOOH is for you. If you believe money has corrupted Washington, GOOOH is for you. If you believe politicians have too much power, GOOOH is for you. If you are weary of the death grip the two parties have on our government, and are ready to return control of our government to the people, then GOOOH is for you.
GOOOH is NOT just another political party. It is a system that will allow you and your neighbors to choose, among yourselves, the person who can best represent your district.
GOOOH is an evolving system and your input is requested. The questions are changing based on the feedback of members just like you. Participate in the forums, take the survey, and send us your thoughts. This is YOUR system. We will perfect it with your input.
GOOOH is a new system that will allow “we the people” to select true representatives, not choose between a Democrat and a Republican. If we continue to elect career politicians who represent their party, the special interests that fund them, and themselves, nothing will change. GOOOH is a non-partisan process that will allow us to effect the change we all know we need.

The GOOOH process allows Americans of every political leaning to participate in the selection of their District’s Representative while being considered themselves. Through GOOOH’s Candidate Selection Sessions you and your peers will select the candidate in your district who best represents your district’s views. Even if you do not wish to become your district’s representative you will want to participate in the process and have a direct say in who is chosen to represent your district. GOOOH will fund a single national campaign to promote the 435 candidates (one from each district) who are selected to run against the party politicians. Because GOOOH is a process for selecting representatives (not an agenda-based party platform) we expect a person left of center to be selected in San Francisco and one right of center in Colorado Springs — but it will be up to the GOOOH members in each district to decide.
For GOOOH to succeed we will need at least 500,000 participants. We will continue to build our base of supporters until we have the participation we need, at which time we will begin our effort to have the GOOOH party added to the ballot in the 50 states and to select our 435 nominees. There are many variables involved in reaching this level of support, but we believe it is only a matter of time.
Originally, the founder of GOOOH proposed excluding lawyers, members of political families, and individuals with more than $11.5 million in assets (250 times the median income). They were not to be excluded because they are bad people, but because they are overly represented in government today and, generally speaking, no longer seem to represent the common man. However, based on input from our members, the Question Committee has voted to remove the exclusion of laywers and the wealthy. Instead, it has been decided that members of these two groups must simply declare that they are a lawyer or have more than $11.5m in assets in each Selection Session in which they participate. It will be up to the participants in each pool to decide whether or not that is of concern. We believe this change is indicative of the continuing evolution of the GOOOH system.
